Description
I had the please of visiting a farm with my brother-in-law near Geneseo, Il. While driving through one of the pastures we stopped and I saw this black angus steer looking at me with an inquisitive look. I am not sure he new what was going on or perhaps he was a little upset that we were invading his space, but I loved the look on his face.
Angus cattle (Aberdeen Angus) are a breed of cattle commonly used in beef production. They were developed from cattle native to the counties of Aberdeenshire and Angus in Scotland, and are known as Aberdeen Angus in most parts of the world.
They are naturally polled (do not have horns) and solid black or red, although the udder may be white. There have always been both red and black individuals in the population, but in the USA they are regarded as two separate breeds — Red Angus and Black Angus. Black Angus is the most common beef breed of cattle in the United States, with 324,266 animals registered in 2005.

A great portrait of this beautiful animal! Generally speaking, bulls can sense testosterone, so would regard male photographers as a menace, whereas a woman photographer would not be regarded as a rival or a threat. All down to Biology, so nothing much that you can do about it. Also bulls that have been bottle fed, rather than raised by their dams, tend to be more aggressive. And if there are calves in the vicinity, approaching them could be very risky, as the bull will go into protective mode. Another good rule of thumb is "the more placid the cow, the more aggressive the bull". Stay safe!!!

Thank you for the advise, Kathryn. This bull seemed more curious of me, but never posed a threat to me. Thank you for the kind comment.
