Artist's Description
This photograph of a yellow iris was taken while visiting a friend and her flower garden this past spring. This iris reminded me of my grandmothers flower garden. She loved irises and grew many different varieties and would always have a vase of irises on her dinning room table.
Irises are perennial plants, growing from creeping rhizomes (rhizomatous irises) or, in drier climates, from bulbs (bulbous irises). They have long, erect flowering stems which may be simple or branched, solid or hollow, and flattened or have a circular cross-section. The rhizomatous species usually have 3�10 basal sword-shaped leaves growing in dense clumps. The bulbous species have cylindrical, basal leaves.

Hello my name is Bruce Bley. I am a retired art instructor. I taught in a public high school for 35 years. I enjoyed teaching students and helping them develop their own style of work.
