Description
This photograph of a bald eagle was taken yesterday while visiting Lawrence Park Island near Sterling and Rock Falls, Illinois. Up until the past few years, one would not see bald eagles in our area, but with the change of climate and the habitat it has allowed the eagles to return to the river where it has been open longer and more conducive for the eagles to find food. They now perch themselves in the large oak tress on the island and search for fish swimming in the water. When they have spotted a fish they quickly circle the area where the fish is and then dive to catch the fish in it's talons. They will then either return to the tree to eat their capture or feed on it along the banks of the river. At times a person make see anywhere from 3 to 10 eagles in this one spot. It is nice to a once endanged animal be able to breed and live on again like many years ago. I hope you have enjoyed this photograph and will share it with others.

Thank you, Nava Jo. I stopped by the park yesterday and counted 14 eagle either flying or sitting in the trees. It is so wonderful that they have made a come back from being and endanged bird.
