Artist's Description

This is a photograph of a yellow tropical waterlily named 'Louis Gold' that I took in a small pond at the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois. It is a tropical Daylily bloom.

Tropical water lily with sunny yellow star-shaped flowers with gold centers; blooms from summer to winter; round green folage mottled with purple; easy to care for; water lilies dislike moving water; annual in colder climates
The St. Louis Gold Tropical Water Lily features showy fragrant yellow cup-shaped flowers with gold eyes at the ends of the stems from early summer to late fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It's attractive glossy round leaves remain green in color with showy burgundy variegation throughout the year. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.
The Chicago Botanic Garden traces its origins back to the Chicago Horticultural Society, founded in 1890. With the motto Urbs in Horto, meaning "city in a garden," the Society hosted nationally recognized flower and...

About Bruce Bley

Bruce Bley

Hello my name is Bruce Bley. I am a retired art instructor. I taught in a public high school for 35 years. I enjoyed teaching students and helping them develop their own style of work. I have created works of fish, flowers, animals, and nature in general to give a person the opportunity to see nature close-up. I am an avid photographer and many of my...
